Hard work, active employment measures, low taxes, policies to draw foreign investment, a favorable business climate and operative employment plans by the Government helped bring down the unemployment rate in Macedonia to a historic low of 22,9 percent, said Hristijan Mickovski, member of the VMRO-DPMNE Executive Committee. The State Statistics Bureau informed on Saturday that the unemployment rate has dropped below 23 percent, in a new historic low, and VMRO-DPMNE said that its economic policies helped make it happen.
"VMRO-DPMNE is rightfully proud with the latest unemployment rate figures. When VMRO-DPMNE took over in 2006, Macedonia led Europe with an astronomical unemployment rate of 38 percent. Since then, 175.000 new jobs were opened under our watch. Even when faced with a deep political crisis, we kept working to reduce unemployment, and had a gain of 20,000 jobs in the first quarter of 2017 compared to the first quarter of 2016. At the height of the crisis, we gained 3,000 jobs compared to the last quarter of 2016", Mickovski said.
Mickovski added that the recently appointed, SDSM led Government, needs to implement its promises, that it will open 64,000 new jobs, with an average wage of 30,000 denars, while imposing a 16.000 denars minimum wage and hiking salaries of doctors to 100,000 denars.
"The citizens also expect to see a stable economy and a growth rate of 5 percent, as SDSM promised. The promises made by the party need to be implemented in the timeframe that was laid out by SDS and should not be ignored. The citizens have no time to waste and have no taste for populism", Mickovski added.
