Minister of Defence Radmila Sekerinska held a meeting Thursday in Skopje with the Ambassador of Norway, Arne Sannes Bjornstad, to discuss ways to bolster the countries' cooperation, in particular in the sphere of defence, MoD said in a press release.
In the meeting, Minister Sekerinska thanked the Ambassador for his country's 'sincere and open' cooperation and also for the support provided to Macedonia continuously on its NATO integration path.
Norway, said Bjornstad, has been always been supportive of Macedonia's strategic goal and the country is advocating for the 'open doors' policy as regards NATO accession.
"The Kingdom of Norway will continue to give its support to Macedonia, be it technical or advisory, in order to accelerate the process of Euro-Atlantic integration," the Ambassador noted.
Also, Minister Sekerinska today met with Slovakia's Ambassador Martin Bezak.
"We appreciate the support you have been giving to our country and hopefully we will return the favor with good results. The Ministry of Defence is committed to improving and modernizing the Army," she stated.
She said she welcomed the decision of the European Union to send a group of experts, led by Reinhard Priebe, to help Macedonia complete key reforms needed for EU and NATO integration.
Macedonia and Slovakia have been cooperating in the sphere of defence since 2000 after signing a cooperation agreement. It covers logistics, intelligence and sharing of experience in IT and military aviation. Military education is considered the most develop segment of the countries' cooperation.
