Simon Trpcevski to Open New Building of Macedonian Philharmonics

­ The new state-of-the-art concert hall of the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra will open Sunday evening with the exclusive concert including Macedonian renowned pianist Simon Trpceski as soloist, under the baton of famous conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy.

The concert would include pieces by Macedonian composer Trajko Prokopiev, as well as Russia's Sergei Prokofiev and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. After 73 years of its existence, the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra finally gets its own home.

The Ministry of Culture has invested a lot of love and efforts to set into operation the concert hall that above all is going to improve the working conditions for artists and attract a great number of internationally prominent musicians, conductors, philharmonics, Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanaceska-Milevska told a press conference on Friday.

Pianist Trpceski said he was honored to perform at the opening of the concert hall and to cooperate once again with maestro Ashkenazy.

The new building, covering an area of 12,400 sqm, has a large, 1,000-seat capacity hall and a small multi-functional 310-seat hall. The large hall has exceptional acoustics and a state-of-the-art audio and video equipment.
