World-famous British violinist Vanessa Mae is set to give a concert in Skopje Monday evening. The performance is billed as being an exclusive concert and the only performance of the Singapore-born musician in the region.
The concert is organized by a production company with support provided by the Ministry of Culture and the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Vanessa Mae has steadily built her career since early childhood, thus becoming known as a child prodigy. Her musical style is a combination of classical music and pop and jazz rhythms. Her first pop-style album, The Violin Player, was released in 1995.
Vanessa Mae had her first solo concert at nine years old. Turning 13, she had released three albums. She has entered the Guinness Book of Records as being the youngest soloist to record both the Beethoven and Tchaikovsky violin concertos.
In 2006, Vanessa Mae was ranked as the wealthiest young entertainer under 30 in the UK, having an estimated fortune of about £32 million stemming from concerts and record sales of over an estimated 10 million copies worldwide.
