Handball: Iceland Еdges Macedonia in Еuro Qualifier

­ Macedonia's men national handball team lost 30:29 to Iceland in the fourth round of the qualifiers for the 2018 European Championships. Teams changed lead in the first half and drew 16:16 at halftime, but Iceland managed to pull away in the second period.

Despite a late surge by Macedonia in the closing minutes, the hosts managed to hold on to the win.

Kiril Lazarov was Macedonia's best player with 8 goals, followed by Dejan Manaskov with 7 and Filip Mirkulovski with 6. All four teams in Group 4 are currently tied with four points each, distinguished only by goal difference. Czech Republic leads the pack with +10 goal difference, followed by Macedonia (+3), Iceland (­5), and Ukraine (­8). In the final two rounds, Macedonia plays away to Ukraine (June 15) and hosts the Czech Republic (June 18).
