The co-chair of the European Council on Foreign Relations Carl Bildt, who is paying a visit to Macedonia, held talks Tuesday in Tetovo with DUI leader Ali Ahmeti.
'I've come to Tetovo to hear the political voices here. Democracy. Constitution. Europe. Respect for the three will carry Macedonia forward,' Bildt said after the meeting.
The meeting was constructive, considering Bildt's experience with Western Balkan countries, Ahmeti said.
'Now the international community wishes to help Macedonia to come out of the political crisis. I've told him that DUI has met all of its obligations related to mustering the new parliamentary majority, making efforts for surpassing the crisis. However we need our (international) friends to facilitate the process,' Ahmeti said, pointing out that major Macedonian parties SDSM and VMRO-DPMNE, which he considers bear the main political responsibility , should set the state interest as their priority.
DUI, he said, doesn't see the idea for new snap poll as a solution to the political crisis.
