American singer and songwriter Bob Dylan finally accepted the 2016 Nobel Prize in literature, after months of refusing to make the time for the Swedish Academy that hands out the worlds most prestigious awards.

Media were not allowed at the private ceremony which was organized to coincide with Dylan's concert in Stockholm. The 75-year old singer received a golden medal and a diploma. Dylan is the first songwriter to receive the prestigious award, and has joined an exclusive club that includes Thomas Mann, Samuel Beckett, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Doris Lessing.

As for the financial award, Dylan is supposed to deliver a short lecture to the Academy, even in a taped version. He did not deliver the lecture on Saturday and has until June to do so, or he may lose the reward.
