Macedonia's President Gjorge Ivanov and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev expressed satisfaction Thursday in Baku with the good relations between the two countries, based on friendship, regular dialogue and understanding.
Ivanov and Aliyev agreed on the need of advancing the relations in spheres of mutual interest. In this respect Ivanov expressed belief in bolstering the economic cooperation and the trade exchange via Macedonia's benefits for foreign investments. Macedonia is ready to welcome Azerbaijani investments in the spheres of energy, agriculture and tourism, Ivanov said.
Aliyev accepted Ivanov's invitation to visit Macedonia after a settlement of the political crisis in the country He expressed interest for investing in Macedonia's gasification project, inviting the country to connect with the Azerbaijan gas distribution system as other Balkan states have already done.
Ivanov and Aliyev also tackled the current developments in the Southeast Europe and Caspian regions. Discussing the refugee/migrant crisis they underlined the need for intensifying the security and the cooperation at the multilateral level, Macedonia's President's Cabinet said in a press release.
